Why does the date move?

The Christian year mixes two kinds of dates. Fixed feasts like Christmas and Epiphany fall on the same calendar day every year. Movable feasts — Easter and everything anchored to it, from Ash Wednesday to Pentecost — are set by a lunar rule: Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after March 21.
